Filipino Nurses like us are very lucky that the United Kingdom Central Council for Nurses gave us the chance to practice our Nursing Profession here in England.

We can’t imagine that we are here for almost 8 months. All we can say is how time flies so fast. The very first time we arrived here was July, which is summer and now it’s already spring. We can’t believe that we cope up winter because we only have 2 seasons in the Phillipines which are Rainy Season and Summer. For us it is not that difficult to adjust to the changing weather of this country.

We are very happy and proud that we found our new home and family here in Hull because even though you have different cultures, traditions and religions, they show respect to each other’s beliefs.

When it comes to work, we did not encounter much problem except for some minor understandings with regards to pronunciation / accent. Providing good health services to the patients and having a close contact with them makes us realize that health is very important to every individual and as far as we know we are enjoying and satisfied with our job.

We meet different kind of patients with different sorts of personality, which needs more patience and understanding for them to feel comfortable with us.

We are very grateful that we found St.Wilfrids and St.Charles Catholic Church here in Hull. We’re very thankful to have somebody like Fr.Peter and Fr.Des who leads masses in St.Wilfrids and Fr.Sellers in St.Charles and all those Catholic devotees because they gave us a warm welcome and gave us the opportunity to participate to the holy mass.
